After the bike crash that made me decide to end my triathlon career, I had a bit of a breakdown. I was totally out of balance, had no energy left at all. I was depressed, and I couldn't think of
a reason to get off the couch. I practically watched all the episodes of all the seasons Jamie Oliver ever made. (I guess that did make me a better cook 👩🍳 😂)
However, after a while, I also started to think about what I wanted to do with my life. I was looking for a way to recharge my batteries, since all those years of full-time training (2-3 times a
day) had left my body and mind depleted. I came across Ayurveda, ancient Indian medicine, and philosophy.
I studied Ayurveda and am still studying Ayurveda, as I believe it is an ongoing learning practice.
Having learned through experience and I can now say I feel better than ever!
Relieving patients from their pain, that was my mission.
As a starting physiotherapist and triathlete, I was eager to help people. They would come to me with pain and leave without it, that was my idea. After all, that’s what I had been taught.
By using mobilization, stretching, and strengthening exercises, we could treat all complaints with excellent results. But the truth will out, and it didn’t take long.
My first job in a private practice turned out to be a far cry from what I had learned. Nevertheless, I tried to solve everything as well as I could, and my first real employer allowed me to set
up a medical fitness, enabling me to focus on my passion: sports and physiotherapy.
But there were also patients I had to attend to, and many of them left physically improved, although the complaints were still there. This wasn’t the job I wanted to do or even had been trained
So I started my journey to explore the workings of the human body by studying osteopathy and learning from my experiences.
