Our bodies do have three Doshas in unique proportions. These are biological energies that are responsible for the states in body and mind. In Ayurveda (the oldest healing system), we call it Prakriti.
If any of these Doshas (energy levels) increases beyond its “normal” level, we are likely to develop diseases.
Have you ever recognized the Kapha in yourself?
If you recognize it, this might mean that you have a kapha dominant constitution — that is not normal.
That dominant constitution aggravates the kapha imbalance. You naturally build a routine to do the things you are best at.
The habit of doing these natural things will correlate with your dosha.
Here what we received from a blog reader:
"Hi,
I am a regular reader of your blog and like the detailed and easy to understand information ; you share.
I am observing changes in my body. From the day I started my dream job as a software quality assurance expert, I am suffering from Hay fever, fullness in the stomach, a poor appetite and after eating I have a craving for sugar.
I like to party each weekend and drink often but it’s getting harder for me to pursue my 8 hours long job. I am losing my strength to work consistently as my body isn’t supporting.
Could you please share a few simple yet effective techniques to overcome these irregularities.
Kind regards
Annie Addison”
The signs Annie shared are due to the kapha imbalance and it disturbs the entire body functioning if no measures are taken.
Here are the 5 easy yet effective measures to balance your kapha instantly:
1. Sleep less
Wake early (yes before sunrise) and avoid sleeping during the day. Since Kapha naturally tend to love sleeping it is best to watch out with this. Sleeping to much will make you lethargic and even slower. Don't worry about getting to little sleep Kapha sleep very deep so will recharge quicker than other people. Take a look at your sleeping schedule and avoid irregular sleeps.
2. Regular physical exercise
Preferably everyday and the kind of physical exercise that challenges your natural stamina. Like running, (speed) skating, biking etc.
3. Be careful not to get stagnated in life
Staying constant in life means sticking to old behaviours and ways of thinking. Get out of your comfort zone, set goals and achieve them like a boss. Keep challenging yourself!
4. Keep warm and dry
Kapha's naturally have a cool body temperature so during the colder seasons make sure to stay warm inside and out. So eat and drink warm but also dress warm.
5. Follow Kapha Dietary Guidelines
Out of all these measures we talked about, an easy trick to balance Kapha is looking at your qualities and habits, and do the opposites.
Like a Kapha for example who is naturally cold, heavy and slow.
Shift to eating or doing activities that are warm, light and moving will eventually decrease your Kapha and balance the energy.
The thing is to focus on your body, listen to it.
