We all have a unique portion of the three Doshas in our body. These are biological energies that are responsible for the human body and mind. In Ayurveda (the oldest healing system), it is known as Prakriti.
If any of these Doshas increases beyond its “normal” level, you are more likely to develop diseases.
Do you recognize the Vata in yourself ?
If you recognize it, this might mean that you have a vata dominant constitution — that is not normal.
With that dominance, you get an imbalanced vata. You naturally tend to do the things you are best at.
The habit of doing these natural things will correlate with your dosha.
So vata’s will naturally tend to do the things where most of the energy is spent.
Due to the hectic life cycle we have developed, vata imbalance is getting common. We are always on the move, busy and running around; which owes no time to relax our mind and body. This naturally aggravates our vata’s and irregularities occur.
Jimmie, our blog reader recently shared his concern:
"Hi.
You’ve got a really nice blog with quality information present across. I am concerned about the complexities happening around.
I am working as a full-time civil engineer in a multinational building company. Most of my work is on the field. From the past month, I am experiencing sleeplessness, lack of memory, and I forget the important stuff that I have to do. Besides my lack of concentration my belly is bloating and I have dry and hard stools.
I tried using several memory techniques to get back in position but failed. Please guide me with an effective strategy.
Cheers
Jimmie”
1.Find things that comfort and calm you
What is one thing that comforts and relaxes your mind and body?
It can be a massage, bath, meditation, yoga, knitting, etc. Incorporate any of these in your life preferably daily to break the hectic life cycle.
If you don’t like any relaxation activity, find some time and sit in a quiet place with no distractions. You’ll end up with a relaxed mind and body.
2. Avoid travelling too much
Since vata is movement more movement, so regular traveling will aggravate your vata. When it's your job to travel, incorporate all the other tips into your travel schedule to keep your vata as low as possible.
3. Keep warm
Especially during the cold and dry seasons. Not only on the outside but also on the inside. Bless your body with warm clothes, warm socks, scarves, and hats. Eat and drink warm and avoid cold and raw food and drinks.
4. Get enough restful Sleep
There’s no shortcut to it, at least 8 hours per night natural sleep is necessary.
5. Follow Vata dietary guidelines
Out of all these measures we talked about, an easy trick to balance Kapha is looking at your qualities and habits, and do the opposites.
Like a vata for example who is naturally cold, light and moving. Incorporate eating or doing activities that are warm, heavy and moving. It will eventually decrease your vata and balance the energy.
The thing is to focus on your body, listen to it. Find out what you are feeling right now?
This way, you will be able to figure out what is it that can bring back the real balance!
